Yes, it’s true: a visit to Starbucks may have saved our lives on our most recent trip. While in Normal, IL for the Hearts at Home National Convention, we experienced a truly providential and slightly humorous occurrence. After setting up our booth on Thursday, we (the Generations of Virtue team) went to dinner at a sandwich shop. Toward the end of our meal, three of us decided some decaf coffee sounded really good, and there was a Starbucks next door to the sandwich shop. Now, in order to really understand the whole story, there’s one thing you should know: a lot of times when we’re on the road or at a convention, our schedule is pretty tight. We’re not in the habit of going to random food places or stores just because we can. Usually we stop at places only if it is absolutely necessary. However, on this particular trip we all agreed that we had an extra five minutes before we needed to go back to our hotel, so a trip to Starbucks would be ok.
After we had gotten our coffee and were back on the road again, we came to an intersection where a car accident had just occurred–literally minutes before we pulled up to the stop light. We can only conclude that had we not stopped in at Starbucks, we could have very well either been involved in the accident or at least been uncomfortably close to it. Now, in all seriousness, we can’t credit Starbucks for the near miss, but we can credit the Holy Spirit. Thank God for His provision and protection! It just goes to show how important it is to be where God wants you to be.

It was a wonderful to be your “vendor neighbor” at Hearts at Home. I have already listed your blog on my mine Recognize & Remember http://www.sandrajo.wordpress.com and we will get you on Share HIS Story’s blog, http://www.sharehisstory.wordpress.com
Many blessings and prayers are sent to our Lord for your safety and health – keep drinking those Vitamin C packs.
Till we meet again …

I’m hearing justification for lots of unnecessary Starbucks stops in the future. Sara, you’d better keep a tight grip on that wheel before the GOV road trips become a front for a Starbucks tour of the country.
Abby, you’re comments always make me laugh. Except for the serious ones. Those cause me to reflect. Praise God for warning us of impending dangers!
